We asked FIRST Teams what they thought of the game. Here is what FIRST Team 4125 (Umatilla High School) wrote:
This was our first time attending a FIRST Robotics Kick-off event. That being the case, our team didn’t know what to expect. Everyone enjoyed the workshops; we learned a bunch of new and interesting things. Though at times some of us felt that our “brains would explode” with all of the knowledge we were gaining, we were glad to have gotten some training to help us with the robot building process. Basically we all had loads of fun.
The majority of us felt that the challenge was going to be, well, challenging of course. It was a bit of a surprise to some us – we couldn’t believe that we were going to be play basketball. Even so, we are all full of enthusiasm. Some of us had given up basketball to join robotics, but now we get to play basketball in robotics.
We feel our biggest problem is without a doubt going to be accuracy. Our robot has to somehow manage to make the ball go into the hoop. That is going to be difficult, but we’re just going to have to take it one step at a time. Ultimately, even if our robot completely falls apart, we will at least have had fun building it.
