We asked FIRST Teams what they thought of the game. Here is what FIRST Team 2898 (School of Science and Technology, Beaverton) wrote:
Waking up at 4 a.m. on Saturday morning is not an easy task for students, but when it involves robots, it’s a totally different story. FIRST team 2898 is all about the robots. All of our members are inspired by FIRST Robotics and love the game.
2898, also known as the Flying hedgehogs, was excited to attend the kickoff once again. We could not attend this fascinating event as 2898 for the 2011 season because of lack of people and other issues we were facing. We are glad and excited to be back in the 2012 season to learn more about robots and technology, to get to know other teams and people involved with FIRST, to compete against other teams with the robots we made, and to just simply have fun.
One of our veteran members, Karan Y said, “This year’s challenge is like nothing we’ve done before. I like it because it’s basketball! The hardest part about this year’s challenge is to shoot the ball in an arc. We are still working on what strategies to take and to avoid. We still have a lot to do. 2898 is jam-packed with creative ideas and bursting with talent!”
