Memorial Coliseum Directions and Parking information
Curbside unloading is at the front of the Coliseum off of N Winning Way or North Center Court Dr. http://www.rosequarter.com/Portals/0/docs/Directions_to_RQ_Map.pdf
FIRST will not hand out any safety glasses to students or team members and no safety glasses for teams will be available from FIRST on Thursday. Every person who enters the pit must have safety glasses and close toed shoes. The uncrate team needs their glasses at 7:45 a.m. and ALL team members will need them to enter the pit at 8:30. Please plan on handing out safety glasses to your teams on Thursday morning when you wait to enter the coliseum, so don’t pack them too deeply in your boxes of tools and make sure they arrive early Thursday morning.
Contract rates with hotels around the Memorial Coliseum were made in the fall of 2008 but many room rates have fallen 20-30% across the country so please check with Travelocity or Orbitz type search engines to see if you can negotiate a lower rate.
A large scrap booking convention is the same weekend as our event so many hotels are booked and you may need to look outside of the convention center for rooms. The Max train Red line runs from the airport to the Rose Garden/Coliseum so please be advised if you are flying you can transport your students easily to the event. Get off at the Convention Center if your hotel is on the east side of I-5. If coming directly to the Memorial Coliseum, use the Rose Garden stop. The Max line is FREE in Fareless Square which takes you from the Rose Garden to City Center Portland. It is safe and easy to ride.
Check out who will be at the event.
Oregon Pit Map
See attached. The spaces between pits indicates there is a large pillar in that area that we work around. We will have a SWAT team (FRC Alumni) available for teams that need support with their robot. This year we will also be offering a CSA (Control System Assistant) if teams need support.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. FIRST Oregon looks forward to a truly Luney event and we’re ready for a great 2009 season!
