I’m passing along an opportunity that FIRST students may be interested in checking out. YEBW.org (Young Entrepreneurs Business Week) offers a summer camp on OSU’s campus for high school students interested in developing their business, presentation and marketing skills. Mary Steiner from 1510, and one of our esteemed Dean’s List Finalists, has attended the YEBW camps and shares the following:
Young Entrepreneurs Business Week has been a fantastic opportunity for me to learn business and entrepreneurial skills I have used within FIRST Robotics and in my entrepreneurial efforts. I have attended YEBW for the past two summers. There, I have learned how to write a business plan, make presentations, network with others and how to invest my money. I have used skills I have learned to help my Chairman’s Award presentation and in fundraising activities. I have also made connections with area business leaders and heard inspiring presentations from presenters such as Dave from “Dave’s Killer Bread.” Along with all of this, it is a lot of fun! I have made friends from all over the region. Some of these friends are on other FIRST teams which my team has made connections with. There are nightly activities such as a talent show, dance, movie nights and an Amazing Race game around the Oregon State University campus. I would highly recommend Young Entrepreneurs Business Week to all FIRST Robotics students.
