Heres an update sent to us from FIRST Team 957:
Week two found FIRST Team 957, the SWARM, finalizing our over-all robot strategy and working on the robot design. Ryan V. Lead Programmer, and Nehemiah E. Build Team note that one of our early problems is we were split on two opposing stratgies/designs and Hyrum C, Build, add that it takes us awhile to agree on something. With mentor help we have come up with a plan forward.
Along with the plan, this part of the build cycle has been developing mechanical prototypes. While crude, they ended up being successful demonstration and learning experiences. I think many of us enjoyed getting into the build room and making something.
Zack D, CAD, says we are now onto “concept finalization: using CAD to figure out the necessary details of the concept”. Some of this is to make sure the robot doesn’t tear itself apart.
The animators were constantly checking the site earlier in the week for their prompts. Once the prompts were released, they dove right in. Savannah V, Animation Team, reports that they are struggling to animate fabrics, but have their storyboard.
Karston P, Electronics, speaks for a lot of us when he says the biggest challenge to over come has been to give “myself more time by giving up most of my personal life.”
