FIRST Team 2002 – Tualatin Robotics at Tualatin High School- sent in this update on their progress. The Tualatin Robotics Program was started in 2006 as a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team with 8 team members. Since then, they’ve grown to 40+ team members who comprise FRC Team #2002 as well as FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams. Great job!
This week was productive. We decided on a design, a strategy and a game plan. We also have a successful pre-season prototype that we will be using for testing our strategy. Some problems we have been facing is figuring out as a team, the balance between a reliable robot and a cool, interesting to watch robot. We want something that works, but one that looks cool and exciting as well. We have been better this year on deciding on a strategy and even though we have a young group, the leadership has been better, making us more efficient as a team.
We will be starting Fabrication this weekend, and will be moving forward with that for the next few weeks. Fortunately, we have our prototype, which will be the foundation for our robot.
On the Marketing front, we are working on creating our newsletter, updating our website, and getting T-shirts for the team. Programming of the Robot is going to be in C++.
We want to thank some of our main sponsors, Autodesk, Bentley Systems, Rockwell Collins, Mentor Graphics and Boeing, and all the great Mentors who have been and continue to help us!
